  • RYA Stage 1-3 Optimist

    RYA Stages 1-3 are a fantastic way of learning or improving your sailing skills. Stage 1. This assumes no previous sailing knowledge but on completion of this stage, you will be able to steer a boat and understand the basic principles of sailing. Stage 2. You will have passed stage 1 and be looking forward to being able to tack and control boat speed and the learning the very important principles of collision avoidance! Stage 3. You will have passed stages 1 & 2 and will be growing in confidence as you will be consolidating on launching and recovery skills and learning new capsize drills and on completion of this stage, you will be able to sail a triangular course as a sailor, not as a beginner.

  • RYA Stage 4 Feva

    Course is designed for young people who can sail around a triangular course competently or who have RYA Stage 3. It is aimed at those moving into the Feva class for the first time from another class or those wishing to progress with their Feva sailing.

  • Optimist Race Training (Advanced) OB

    This is class training for those sailors who want to develop their race training. Please note the pre-requisite for this training is to have sailed in the Gold Fleet for at least one season and be to the standard of RYA Advanced Racing. The sailors will be expected to rig and tune their own boats, both on and off the water. Sailors will be expected to be able to dress appropriately and have subsistence with them to allow for the option of the training to be on the water for several hours.

  • Safety Boat Familiarisation

    Bosham Sailing Club is using elements from the Powerboat Level 2 and Safety Boat Course and applying it specifically to those signing up to support boat duties during club racing. The aim, through theory and practical training, is to raise awareness for boat drivers and crew about the key fundamentals to powerboat support. This is a one day course, for BSC members only and is free of charge.

    This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). There is no assumed knowledge for this course but it may be proceeded by Level 1 Start Powerboating or BSC powerboat courses, “safety boat familiarisation”.

  • Oppie Fridays

    This class training provides sailors with informal training on the water. Each session runs from 5-7pm and includes some group instruction. The aim is to encourage BSC members to further their participation on the water with a fun early evening session. The pre-requisite is that participants can sail to the ability of Stage 2. This course is a set of 5 evening sessions on 26 April, 10 May, 24 May, 7 June, 21 June.

    Level 1: This assumes no previous knowledge and is a great introduction to sailing. You will learn how to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovery.

    Level 2: This assumes sailing skills to the standard of Level 1. The course includes rigging, launching, and sailing in all directions. There is a capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge.
